Hosting a House Concert

House concerts are a great way to experience world-class music right in your or your neighbor's house. Usually the audience size is small - from 10 to 50 people. They're up close and personal, offer a quiet listening experience, and have been a rewarding experience for both hosts and their guests. A house concert is simple and fun, a great offering to your friends, and a generous contribution to the community of musicians.

House concerts have been gaining in popularity here in the United States and Canada, where the music industry becomes more and more about making money and less and less about supporting the artists. How does it work? The hosts and artists will invite friends. The band will also provide some light snacks and drinks such as wine and cheese, or people can do potluck if they prefer to have a full dinner. Money collected goes straight to the performers. The musicians will play for the evening, with a break in the middle to allow guests and the musicians to mingle. We have CDs available for sale so that guests can take home some music to remind them of the wonderful experience of the live music they've enjoyed.

Celebrating music in our homes creates a wonderful sense of community and connectedness. It enriches our spirit. The arts stay alive and thrive when we all enjoy and support our local artists. Music is a wonderful way to create peace and joyful connectedness.
